1. What is the primary service offered by Post the Win!
Post the win offers online tournament software to organizations such
as golf or tennis clubs. The website contains a series of forms that are
used to set up tournament brackets for a variety of sporting events. The
administrator has all the tools necessary to build a roster of members;
prompt them to sign up for tournaments on the website; seed the
tournaments by handicap, blind draw, or order of entry. The players post
their own results to the websites. A League administrator can easily
manage five to ten tournaments that run throughout the course of a
season.
Post the Win! is currently in "beta" mode so any website visitor can
see how a few of the features work, such as posting wins and resetting
matches.
2. How does a League Manager put a roster of players on the website?
The League roster,
which contains name, email address, and Sign In information for all
players. The League roster can be established by
asking players to register on the website, or the League Manager can
upload player information all at once with assistance from Post the Win. Each player
will have a username and password so they can access league web pages on
the website, and post wins to their matches.
3. How does the League Manager set up the tournaments?
Web forms are used to provide details for
each tournament bracket such as the number of players in a bracket and
the dates for the matches. The League Manager "seeds" the brackets
based on alphabet, handicap, name, order of entry or random draw. A 32 player bracket can be
seeded in less than 10 minutes. Once the seeding is completed, just one
mouse click is needed to create a tournament bracket, with the scheduled
matches and the associated dates.
4. How can the League Manager communicate with the players.
The League Manager can send pre-formatted email blasts to announce
the start of tournaments, and remind players when their matches are
coming due soon or are delinquent. The League Manager can use a coin
flip option for delinquent matches based on rules established by the
League. When a player wins a match, they go to the website and post the win,
which generates a congratulatory email to them which is copied to the
League Manager.
5. What if the League Manager needs to make changes to the player
roster or tournaments.
Easy to use web forms enable the League Manager to add or
delete players or change tournament details. The League Manager can also
designate assistants which can be enabled to use the administrative
tools.
6. Where is the information about the League maintained?
All of the information needed to manage a tournament is entered into an
SQL Server
database hosted by godaddy.com, the world's largest hosting provider of secure websites. See our terms of use and our privacy policy
to see the measures we take to ensure that your league will be managed
in a professional manner in a secure internet environment.
7. How does the coin flip work?
The coin flip result is based on a random number generator. Any
result less than 0.5 is Tails and greater than 0.5 is Heads. In any
given match, the player on top of the bracket is Heads and the player on
the bottom is Tails. In the initial setting, the position can be based
on alphabet, handicap, or random draw. After the first match, it just
all depends on who wins a given match as to who is on top and who is on
the bottom.
8. If the League wants to award players with a prize for each match,
how does that work?
The League Manager sets a total purse or pot amount, and each match
winner earns the amount that they initially contributed to the pot.
Let's say each player puts in five buttons as a registration fee. If
there were 16 players, the pot is 80 buttons. The eight First
round winners get their buttons back--five; the four second round
winners get another five; the two third round winners get another
five; the fourth round winner, the Champion, gets 10 button, for a total
of 20 buttons.
